Angel Manual Lopez (DOB 9/13/88), a documented gang member with an extensive criminal history was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer, Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Discharging a Firearm in Public, Use of a Firearm Under the Influence of Alcohol, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony and Resisting Without Violence.
On November 6 at approximately 1:43 a.m. deputies working at Old Town responded to a disturbance call located at Sun on the Beach, 5770 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee.
Once all of the individuals involved were separated, Deputy John Rios, who overheard Lopez was armed, followed him as he was exiting the bar. As Deputy Rios was attempting to detain Lopez, a brief struggle ensued and Lopez discharged his weapon which struck the deputy in his leg.
Deputy Rios was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released. No weapons were discharged by any Osceola County deputies.
Lopez was booked into the Osceola County Jail. The investigation is ongoing with additional charges pending.
