Casey Capps is in custody after stealing a window air conditioner from a local church.
On August 20, 2016 around 9:30 P.M. Holmes County deputies responded to the Methodist Church in Ponce de Leon in reference to a possible burglary. Upon arrival it was found that a window air conditioner unit had been removed from a window.
Investigators responded and collected footprints and tire tracks. Deputies canvassed the area and talked with witnesses that provided them a description of a suspect vehicle. Within four hours of the burglary being reported deputies located the suspect vehicle and suspect and recovered the stolen air conditioner.
Casey Capps, of Ponce de Leon was taken into custody and charged with burglary and theft. He also was on state probation for grand theft and faces an additional charge of violation of state probation. Sheriff Brown would like to comend his deputies on a job well done and a big thank you to the community and individuals who provided information involving this case. This is a perfect example of how it takes law enforcement working with the community to solve crime.
