The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help finding the person or persons who slaughtered a horse in Golden Gate Estates, extracted the meat and left the remains behind.
Deputies were called at 7:58 a.m. today to a pasture off Immokalee Road after the remains of a horse were found.
Deputies said someone entered the pasture sometime between midnight and 5 a.m. and led the horse to a neighboring pasture where they butchered the animal. Deputies said it appears the suspect or suspects were after the horse’s meat based upon the remains left at the scene.
An investigation continues.
