Gulf County Sheriff’s Office 09/2016 Law Enforcement Summary

On Monday, September 19, 2016, the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) received a trespassing complaint on Deseret Cattle & Timber property. Deputy M. Peek responded to the complaint and conducted an investigation. The investigation revealed one of the trespassers John Garland Walker III (26) had active warrants for his arrest out of Bay County. Walker was placed under arrest and trespassed from Deseret Cattle & Timber’s property. Walker was transported to the Gulf County Detention Facility (GCDF).

On Tuesday, September 20, 2016, Deputy C. Harvey conducted a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet truck driven by James Edward Smith (32) on Highway 98 and 1st Street in Port Saint Joe for a tag violation. A driver’s license check revealed Smith was driving on a suspended license. He was charged with Driving While License Suspended or Revoked. Smith was transported to the GCDF.

On September 20, 2016, Investigators S. Ferrell and P. Williams conducted a traffic stop on a red Chevrolet truck driven by Ryan Micheal Carver (25) and occupied by William Earl Barber (25) in the 200 block of State Road 71 in Wewahitchka for no valid driver’s license. Carver was placed under arrest for Driving While License Suspended or Revoked. Barber was seated on the passenger side of the vehicle and while exiting attempted to conceal a sunglass case between the running board and the exterior of the vehicle. Investigators discovered the sunglass case contained marijuana, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. Barber was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Less Than 2 20 Grams of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Carver and Barber were transported to the GCDF.

On September 20, 2016, Investigator L. Dickey began a sexual molestation investigation on a child under the age of twelve. Investigator Dickey continues to investigate.

On September 20, 2016, Investigators S. Ferrell and P. Williams arrested Joshua Michael Tucker (26) in the 200 block of Sandalwood Blvd. in Cape San Blas for a narcotic arrest warrant. The arrest warrant is the result of a search warrant executed on September 15, 2016, in the 200 block of Sandalwood Blvd in Cape San Blas. Tucker has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Amphetamine, Dextroamphetamine), Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Less Than 20 Grams of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Tucker was transported to the GCDF.

On September 20, 2016, the GCSO received a physical disturbance complaint in the 100 block of Fern Drive in Wewahitchka. Deputy M. Manley responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. The investigation revealed the complainant was battered by Jesse Lavon Johnson Jr. (36). Deputy Manley observed injuries to the complainant that substantiated the allegation made. Johnson fled the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival and was not located. Deputy Manley obtained an arrest warrant charging Johnson with Battery. Johnson was subsequently arrested on the arrest warrant by Deputy C. Sanders on September 26, 2016, in the 1000 block of County Road 386.

On September 20, 2016, Deputy P. Baxley arrested Nicole Tia White (27) at 600 Maddox Street in Oak Grove for a Violation of Probation warrant out of Gulf County. White was transported to the GCDF.

On September 20, 2016, the GCSO received a burglary complaint in the 700 block of Plantation Road in the northern area of Gulf County. Deputy C. Harvey responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. The investigation revealed while the complainant was sleeping someone attempted to burn their residence by setting fire to the front porch. The complainant was able to extinguish the fire with only exterior damage. This investigation has been assigned to the GCSO Criminal Investigations Division (CID).

On Wednesday, September 21, 2016, the GCSO received a theft complaint in the 300 block of North 4th Street in Wewahitchka. Deputy C. Sanders responded to the complaint to conduct an investigation. The complainant reported their silver & yellow table saw (no further description) was stolen from the driveway of their residence between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm on September 21, 2016. Deputy Sanders continues to investigate.

On Friday, September 23, 2016, the GCSO received a storage shed burglary complaint in the 1100 block of Indian Pass Road in Indian Pass. Deputy M. Manley responded to conduct an investigation. The investigation revealed someone had damaged a lock to an outside storage shed but determined no property had been stolen. Deputy Manley continues to investigate.

On September 23, 2016, Deputy A. White executed a transport order and transported Tierre J Ash (22) from Holmes Correctional Institution (HCI) to Gulf County. Ash was delivered to the GCDF. On September 23, 2016, Deputy C. Harvey conducted a traffic stop on a black Nissan driven by Michael Laverne Quinn (50) on State Road 71 in White City for a moving violation. A driver’s license check revealed Quinn was driving on a suspended license and subsequently placed under arrest. During an inventory search of the vehicle, Deputy Harvey discovered Quinn was in possession of Xanax and Hydrocodone pills without a prescription. Quinn was transported to the GCDF. After arriving at the GCDF Quinn attempted to discard powder cocaine and crack cocaine that had been concealed on his person. Quinn was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Xanax), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Hydrocodone), Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Crack Cocaine and Driving While License Suspended or Revoked. Quinn was delivered to the GCDF.

On Saturday, September 24, 2016, Deputy P. Baxley conducted a traffic stop on a blue Chevrolet truck driven by James Bernard Clayton (45) on North Long Street in the Overstreet area for a registration violation. A driver’s license check revealed Clayton was driving with no valid license and had an active warrant for his arrest out of Gulf County for Failure to Appear on a traffic summons. Clayton was arrested and charged with Driving with No Valid License and the arrest warrant for Failure to Appear was served. Clayton was transported to the GCDF. 4

On September 24, 2016, Deputy A. White conducted a traffic stop on a red Dodge driven by a white male and occupied by Tammy Nichols Finch (45) at the intersection of Jones Homestead Road and Rutherford Street in the Jones Homestead area for running a stop sign. During a consent search of Nichol’s purse, Deputy White discovered she was in possession of drug paraphernalia and prescription pills without a prescription. Finch was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Alprazolam) and Drug Paraphernalia. Finch was transported to the GCDF.

On September 24, 2016, Deputy B. Smith conducted a traffic stop on a silver Hyundai driven by Stephanie A. Brinkmeier (19) on State Road 71 near the Stone Mill Creek area in northern Gulf County for a moving violation. During the traffic stop, Deputy Smith detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Deputy Smith deployed K-9 Brix and conducted an open-air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle. K-9 Brix gave a positive alert for the odor of illegal narcotics. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, Deputy Smith located two marijuana cigarettes inside the vehicle. Brinkmeier was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Less Than 20 Grams of Marijuana. Brinkmeier was transported to the GCDF.

On Sunday, September 25, 2016, Deputy M. Peek arrested Josie Whitfield Miller (32) in the 100 block of Saint Andrew Street for an active warrant out of Calhoun County. Miller was placed under arrest without incident. Miller was transported to the GCDF awaiting extradition to Calhoun County.

On September 25, 2016, the GCSO received a report of a traffic crash in the parking lot of the Dixie Dandy in Wewahitchka. Deputy P. Baxley responded to the crash and conducted an accident investigation. The investigation revealed the driver Tanya Elizabeth Crosby (40) was operating a motor vehicle without a license. Crosby was issued a criminal citation for Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License with a mandatory court appearance. Crosby was released at the scene.
