Jimaya Baker Arrested For Robbing Juvenile of Cash, Marijuana

An arrest warrant was issued for 18-year-old Jimaya Baker on Monday, April 7, (DOB 6/3/2001) by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office’s (FCSO) Major Case Unit regarding an armed robbery that took place on October 24, 2019, in a residential neighborhood in the “S” section of Palm Coast.

During this incident, Baker solicited marijuana from two juvenile subjects while two men waited in the shadows. Moments later, the two men (one armed with a handgun) approached the juveniles and held them against their will.

Baker then grabbed a large sum of money from one of the juveniles.  The three suspects then made off with an undetermined amount of cash and marijuana.  The incident was captured on a home video surveillance which was later turned over to the Major Case Unit.

Major Case Detectives were able to positively identify Jimaya Baker on the footage.  On Tuesday, the FCSO Problem Area Crime Enforcement (PACE) Unit saw Baker as a passenger in a vehicle. A traffic stop was initiated but the driver fled from deputies. A short time later, PACE conducted a high-risk traffic stop on the vehicle and apprehended Baker.

The driver, Richard Lemon (DOB 6/24/1993), was arrested for Fleeing and Eluding the traffic stop. Baker is charged with Principal to Robbery with a Firearm and Principal to Attempted Robbery with a Firearm and was booked into the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility where she is being held on a $40,000.00 bond.

“Once again, we have an act of violence surrounding a drug deal gone bad,” Sheriff Rick Staly said.  “Our detectives once again have done an outstanding job. Clearly Jimaya Baker has no remorse for her prior actions. The fact that this second incident occurred nearly a year-to-the-day after her first botched robbery is just a testament to unwillingness to turn her life around.

I can only hope that the criminal justice system will hold her accountable and send her away for a long time. I also hope the juvenile drug dealers have learned they are in a dangerous career that could end their life. I hope they get out of the business before it’s too late.”

Baker is no stranger to the Major Case Unit. Baker organized a similar robbery for which she was recently charged and arrested. This is an active investigation and charges are pending against the other co-conspirators in this case.
