Luis Otero Jr. was arrested on 04/07/2020 after an hour and a half of PA announcements and negotiations to get him to come down from an attic where he was hiding at 329 Diamond St. Unit B.

Otero had been involved in an argument with his ex-girlfriend during which he fired a gun in the air and pointed it at her. He fled from deputies responding to that call on Roberts Boulevard and ended up in the attic on Diamond Street.

Eventually, he came down willingly and was taken into custody without further incident.

Prior to this incident, on Monday, Otero was arrested by Orange City PD on domestic battery charges involving the same victim.

In this case, Luis Otero Jr is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of possession of a weapon/ammunition by a convicted felon, fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, resisting an officer without violence, driving while license suspended/revoked, grand theft of a firearm and possession of Alprazolam. He was additionally charged with violation of probation on previous charges.

The Aerial Response Team responded with a drone to assist the many units who worked this call and brought it to a safe resolution.
